Dog Day Afternoon...

I met two dogs called Ronnie and Reggie, “they're named after the Krays – because they are a couple of Fugs” and I got talking to the owner about a post on a Haywards Heath site where some fool claimed they wanted to smash a car window in Sainsburys car park because there was a dog in the car. As it is Winter, the owner is probably only in the Supermarket for a maximum of 20 minutes and the terror that smashing the car window would inflict on the poor dog, the statement could only have been posted by someone who is not really thinking. But, as Bernard Shaw said, “most people don't think and that has allowed me to make a good living by thinking once or twice a year”.

Dog day events for Easter that you and your pooch might want to consider are as follows:

'Bark in the Park' – A St Catherine's Hospice sponsored dog walk 'in aid of free end of life care for people when they need it most' - £5 (£10 on the day) in East Grinstead, Crawley or Horsham 30th May 2015 - 10am - 12pm. All dogs are asked to bring a two legged friend to cough up the cash. For details: www.stch.org.uk/barkinthepark

'The Big Haywards Heath Bluebell Walk' – Sunday 5th April 2015 at 12pm - £5. Come walk your dog through the Bluebell Woods to raise money for Canine Partners 'a charity that provides specially trained assistance dogs to help people with disabilities'. To register or find out more information: www.caninepartners.org.uk/bigbluebellwalks or call 01730 716 013.

Canine Partners dogs are trained to open and close doors, help with undressing, unloading washing machines, answer the telephone and taking cards and cash from ATMs  - pity they can't train them to run the economy as The Puppy Party would certainly be good at making a lot of noise in The Commons.

If you have a local dog related event and want us to add it to this site, please email us the details.

More doggie style!

Ursula won the pork pie bake of at the Bent Arms on Sunday... but nobody knows what the next bake off will be as the loser did not attend. Watch out for the posters in the bar.

Pug at the bar - update

The pug at the bar has been busy, too busy to attend the last Bent Arms 'cook-off'.  Worse: we had such a good time at the bar that we can't remember the details of what happened... something about Ursula coming last and picking 'Pork Pies' as the next 'cook-off' for Sunday 22nd February at 3pm... There is a poster with the details at the bar of the Bent and you can work your magic at home and bring the efforts in to the Bent for the competition. Hungry hangers on get to eat whatever is left after the Judges have finished – same rules – check previous posts.

Two dodgy doggies were spotted secretly disposing of stolen goods on the Common in broad daylight. 'i-spy' have released the following photo and warned those with tasty tit-bits to beware.

Apparently, Monty Sunshine defected to Cuckfield for the day and discovered 'Waggy Tails' in the Saturday market next to the revamped dog-friendly 'Talbot Inn'. It was the tasty treats that first attracted the attention, followed by the designer dog collars. The lovely Trudy Furini and her little White Westie promised to join the little dog club on Lindfield Common when the weather gets better, so check out her out at www.trudyfuriniphotography.co.uk  and visit her stall on the next Cuckfield market day.

The Pug would like eveyone to know:

Katy and Monty's puppies have all gone to their new homes – apart from little Nipper who is staying with mum and is apparently a regular in local Lindfield pubs. Cute photos follow – everybody get ready to say ahhhhhhhhhhhhh.....

PUPPIES ! ! !

The beautiful 'Katie Custard' gave birth to
7 little puppies
at 8 AM on Friday 29th November 2014

Monty Sunshine is the 'dog father'

one of the little squeekers has been named 'Sweep'
("as it sounds like 'Sweep' in Sooty & Sweep")

All of the little darlings appear to be doing well...

and (at this stage) appear to have Black and Tan markings -
although one has a White front and another a White bottom.

Updates will follow...
